Joint Claims

For most couples, it is best to file any claim jointly. This way, both of them are protected and at the same made aware of any information that might be relevant. There are many cases where joint claims should be filed such as life insurance claims, death benefits from social security, claims for breach of contract, claims for tax refunds, claims for disability and many more. A joint claim can also be acted faster by insurance firms since they are assured that no other claim will be filed once the claim is paid out. There are instances where a single claim was filed and once it was paid out, the other partner (not being made a party thereto) will also file a separate claim. Joint claims are good for the insurance firms as these will extinguish any further claims in the future. Joint claims preclude any partner from making any nuisance claims anymore.

Joint claims also carry more legal weight. Since both couples are making the claim, their individual rights have been combined into a single much stronger claim. This gives impetus to the insurer to process the claims faster than usual although they might not admit to this readily.
